Dr. O’Meara's Bio

Dr. James O’Meara graduated with his Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering and his Medical Degree from the University of Virginia. He then served his Internship, Residency, and his Cardiovascular Medicine and Interventional Cardiology Fellowships at the University of North Carolina. Additionally, Dr. O’Meara completed a Medical Informatics and Decision Making Fellowship while attending UNC.

Dr. O’Meara holds specialty certificates from the American Board of Internal Medicine in Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology. He joined The Cardiac & Vascular Institute in 1996 and has held numerous leadership positions in the medical community over the years.

In addition to being ASH certified and one of TCAVI’s Hypertension Specialists, Dr. O’Meara has a strong interest in Peripheral Catheterization and Stenting; both of which procedures he performs in the TCAVI facility. Spare time for Dr. O’Meara revolves around his family.
